NEWYORK: Governor Kathy Hochul announced 13,000 more kids across New York are now enrolled in high-quality, affordable childcare following her record investments statewide, with a total of approximately 183,000 kids now enrolled in the State’s Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP).

This major initiative has now enabled 43 counties across the state to expand childcare access in their communities through CCAP. This includes 26 counties that have been able to clear their waitlists or were previously denying new applicants into the program.

The announcement includes more than 10,000 kids in New York City that have been moved off the City’s childcare voucher waitlist due to the State’s CCAP investments. Following additional investments by both New York State and City, these 10,000 additional families will now receive childcare.

“I’ll never stop working to make life more affordable for New Yorkers — and that’s why I took action to expand childcare access and help even more families save thousands of dollars per year,” Governor Hochul said.

“Our record investments in childcare across New York will enable communities statewide to continue this progress every day by connecting more families with the support they need and deserve.”

“Governor Hochul’s unprecedented investment in affordable childcare is already delivering relief New York families can feel, providing an additional 13,000 children with a safe space to learn and grow at a price their hardworking parents can afford. OCFS is proud to help implement Governor Hochul’s multi-pronged strategy for achieving universal childcare, which offers not just affordable childcare options but the foundational elements that yield long-term educational, social and emotional development outcomes,” said New York State Office of Children and Family Services Commissioner DaMia Harris-Madden.
