NEWYORK: Prominent Pakistani American businessman Malik Abbas hosted a reception at his residence in Staten Island in honor of Chairman of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation Syed Qamar Raza, MNA Ehsan-ul-Haq Bajwa and Sardar Zahoor, a prominent social figure visiting from Paris.
Distinguished individuals from various walks of life and community representatives attended the event.
Raja Razzaq moderated the event which began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Pir Syed Safdar Hussain Shah.
During the event, discussions were held regarding the issues faced by overseas Pakistanis, the protection of their rights, and ongoing welfare initiatives.
Host Malik Abbas thanked the guests for attending the event and said that the presence of such distinguished figures and community representatives was a source of great pleasure for him.
Sardar Zahoor, visiting from Paris, and MNA from Pakistan Ehsan-ul-Haq Bajwa said that while many Pakistanis were previously unaware of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation’s role, the situation has improved since Syed Qamar Raza Shah assumed the chairmanship. They said that there is now greater focus on highlighting the issues faced by overseas Pakistanis and taking practical steps to resolve them.
They emphasized that involving the community itself in the decision-making process is essential for effectively addressing the challenges faced by overseas Pakistanis.
Chairman of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation Syed Qamar Raza thanked the participants and described overseas Pakistanis as a valuable asset to the country. He said that they play a vital role in the national economy and society through remittances, exports, investment, and philanthropic activities.
He added that Pakistanis living abroad serve as ambassadors for the country and can contribute significantly to national development through their conduct, hard work, and capital.
Nusrat Sohail and other dignitaries were also present at the event. Participants commended the services rendered by Syed Qamar Raza Shah regarding the resolution of issues, protection of rights, and welfare of overseas Pakistanis, and acknowledged his efforts.
