PHILADELPHIA: American Muslims welfare organization ICNA Relief has inaugurated a new transitional homes for Muslim women in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to provide safe housing for homeless women and families in the United States.
This is ICNA Relief’s first in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and the organization’s 28th shelter home across the United States.
The shelter home was established with the support of renowned entrepreneur Aqeel Ahmed and his family. The shelter home was inaugurated by Aqeel Ahmed’s mother Zahida Sultana.
The opening ceremony was attended by ICNA Relief’s Chief Executive Officer Abdul Rauf Khan, Northeast Director Arshad Jamal, Chief Information Officer Aamir Saeed, Philadelphia Area Manager Diana Mohammad, and temporary Housing Facility National Director Malika McDonald.
ICNA Relief team visited different parts of the shelter home and informed the participants about the facilities available here.
According to officials, an effort has been made to provide women with safe housing in the center and an environment where they can feel like home.
The shelter home has comfortable living rooms, standard bathrooms, furniture and other basic amenities.
The ceremony was attended by imams of various Masajids, community leaders, social figures and other dignitaries.
According to ICNA Relief, along with providing temporary accommodation, women in difficulty will also be provided with opportunities to gain education, training, guidance and practical skills so that they can overcome their circumstances and stand on their own feet in the future.
Community leaders and imams appealed to philanthropists to play their role in such welfare projects, because a safe house can be not just a roof for a needy family but also an opportunity to start a new life.
The organization says that although the needs of Muslim women and families have been specially taken into account in this center, ICNA Relief helps the needy beyond religion and provides assistance to deserving people belonging to different religions.
