NEWYORK; Pakistani American community celebrated the 79 th Pakistan Independence Day with great enthusiasm in Bergen County, New Jersey.
The Independence Day event was organized by the Bergen County Executive and Board of Commissioners of the State of New Jersey, in collaboration with the Cultural Society of Bergen County.
The event began with recitation of Holy Quran. The county police contingent saluted and national anthems of America and Pakistan were sung. Later, when the green crescent flag was raised in the air, everyone was filled with patriotic feelings.
Deputy Director of Communications in Bergen County Sidra Razzak moderated the event who introduced and welcomed the guests.
Pakistan’s Consul General in New York, Aamir Ahmed Atuzai, the central leader of the Cultural Society of Bergen County, Farhat Khan, the society’s president Dr. Ghazala Arshad, Dr. Ghazala Chauhan, Saira Gilani, Nadia, Maryam Javed, Saima, Sufi Haq, Faiza and Naseem, as well as a large number of members of the Pakistani American community living in New Jersey attended the event.
Consul General Aamir Ahmed Atuzai surprised everyone by singing the famous national song Dil Dil Pakistan.
Bergen County Executive James JTedesco’s participation in the Independence Day celebration, dressed in a shalwar kameez, impressed everyone.
Addressing the participants, James Tedesco and Vice Chairwoman Tracy Silna Zur congratulated the Pakistani American community on Independence Day. They said that Pakistan has achieved a unique position in a short time after independence, and those Pakistanis living in the United States have also made their dreams come true.
Pakistani Consul General Amir Ahmed Atuzai said that freedom is a blessing that guarantees living according to one’s culture, religion and social principles. He said founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah also assured that every community and religious community will have the right to equal freedom and equality.
Cultural Society of Bergen County President Dr. Ghazala Arshad, Saira Gilani and others expressed their gratitude to the county executive, commissioner board members and Farhat Khan.
Addressing the participants, they said that Pakistan’s culture and civilization are an example to themselves. They said that living nations always remember their history, and celebrating national days and festivals is the best opportunity to understand each other’s culture and civilization.
The speakers congratulated the Pakistani American community on the 79th Independence Day. The speakers said that it is important for all of us to pass on our culture, civilization and historical heritage to the new generation.
Later, the county executive presented a citation and honorary key to Consul General Amir Ahmed Atuzai, while other personalities were awarded certificates of appreciation. The Bhangra team performed a wonderful cultural dance at the end of the event.
