NEWYORK: Muslim American delegations met NYS Democratic Chair Jay Jacobs and party leadership alongside Muslim Americans of Long Island and discussed various issues with regard to community.
Muslim community leaders said that they had an honest and solution-focused conversation about representation, leadership pathways, community safety, supporting Muslim candidates, and ensuring Muslim-led nonprofits have equitable access to public resources.
They said that NYS Democratic Chair was informed that Muslim community deserves not just to be heard, but to be included — at decision-making tables, in leadership roles, and in shaping the policies that impact our families.
They said that they are grateful for a meaningful and productive meeting with NYS Democratic Chair Jay Jacobs and encouraged by the commitment to continued dialogue and collaboration, and looking forward to turning these conversations into action.
