BONN, GERMANY: The German-Pakistan Forum successfully held its annual general meeting (AGM) online via Zoom.

The meeting was attended by members from across Germany and included a detailed review of the Forum’s work and direction for the coming year.

The forum also conducted fresh elections during the meeting. The members elected the new cabinet of the Forum with an overwhelming consensus.

According to the results, Sorya Lippert was elected President, Imran Mehr was elected as Vice President/Deputy President, Asghar Ali as Treasurer (“Ali Asghar offered to continue serving as Treasurer in order to help resolve the issues and support smoother handling of matters. However, Zahra Currimbhoy ran by proxy in the elections and was elected as Treasurer.”)

Zahra Currimbhoy as the board member, Martina Khan as Secretary / Note Keeper, Mariam Ahmed as Auditor (to be nominated in the upcoming board meeting).

A major highlight of the meeting was the presence and participation of Ambassador of Pakistan to Germany, Ms. Saqlain Syedah, along with the Press Counselor, Ms. Hina Malik, who joined the proceedings and addressed the members.

The Ambassador reaffirmed the Embassy’s continued support for the Forum and assured the members that the Embassy will remain fully available for cooperation in all areas where support is required.

She emphasized the importance of moving forward together and strengthening community-driven initiatives, stating that the partnership between the Embassy and the Forum will grow “strength by strength.”

The newly elected President, Ms. Sorya Lippert, thanked members for their trust and expressed her commitment to expanding the Forum’s activities, engaging younger members, and strengthening the Forum’s role in cultural relations, humanitarian work, climate cooperation, and public dialogue.

It was also shared that the German Pakistan Forum has received a number of new membership applications.

In accordance with the Forum’s statutes, these applications will be reviewed and vetted in the next Board meeting.

Subject to a positive assessment, prospective new members will be invited to a members’ meeting at the earliest opportunity to get to know the Forum and its existing members.

The objective is to encourage collaboration by forming dedicated working/action groups around shared topics and to support the organization of upcoming activities.

Ambassador Saqlain Syedah has also shared an additional list of potential new members, which the Forum will consider for inclusion through the official process.

The Forum reaffirmed its commitment to building bridges between the people of Germany and Pakistan through cultural relations, student and academic engagement, and community-driven cooperation. With the support of the Embassy and a newly elected cabinet, the Forum looks forward to a more active, stronger, and impactful year ahead.
