ILLINOIS: Pakistani-American leader Mahnoor Ahmad has formally announced her candidacy for the DuPage County Board’s District 2 seat.
She has previously run against U.S. Congressman Sean Casten for the Democratic nomination in 2024.
Mahnoor Ahmed has a long history of public service and has been committed to working for all segments of DuPage County.
She said that if elected, she will make protecting the rights and interests of families, seniors, youth, and those in need her top priority.
Addressing an event at Villa Park, Illinois, attended by more than 50 people, Mahnoor Ahmad addressed her supporters. She said that her goal in running for DuPage County Board District 2 is to build a strong community based on justice, opportunity, and compassion.
She said that this is not just an election campaign, but a grassroots movement that is gaining strength from people like you.
Mahnoor Ahmad said that she is the daughter of educated parents from Balochistan, Pakistan who came to the United States believing in the American dream.
She said that her parents taught her that through education and service, the lives of others can be improved.

Mahnoor said that after completing her education from Loyola University and Purdue University, she began her career in the field of public health, where her focus has always been on protecting families, accessing treatment, and leaving no one behind.
She said that she has run for public office with the same passion and dedication, but today the American dream that her parents held dear is under threat not only in Washington but also in DuPage County.
Mahnoor Ahmad emphasized that the struggle for justice, accountability, and transparency is not limited to Congress but begins at the local level in parks, schools, neighborhoods, and boardrooms.
She emphasized the importance of promoting mental health programs in schools, and said that suicide is the second leading cause of death among children ages 10 to 14 in DuPage County, and that the county government must intervene in a timely manner.

Mahnoor Ahmed is a proponent of the concept of mental health in every school and advocates for a care model that is based on prevention and human dignity rather than reaction after a crisis.
She said that her election manifesto includes easy and equitable access to mental health services for all residents, as the current system is too complex and often overlooked.
Using her experience as a public health director, she is committed to tackling systemic problems that prioritize profits over people, so that health services can be affordable and accessible to working families.
