NEWYORK: Pakistan has reaffirmed its opposition to the use of chemical weapons by anyone, anywhere and under any circumstances.

The stance was articulated by Pakistan’s Acting Permanent Representative to the UN, Usman Jadoon, during Security Council briefing on the Middle East.

He said Pakistan attaches great importance to the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) as a pillar of the global disarmament regime. We support the Convention’s universal adherence and its full, effective and non-discriminatory implementation.

Usman Jadoon said Pakistan strongly support Syria’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity, which are essential for durable peace and stability.

He said Pakistan continues to back an inclusive, Syrian-owned and Syrian-led political process.
