NEWYORK: Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America’s newly elected president Dr. Babar Rao has presented its program for the year 2026, which includes education, innovation, welfare activities, and medical missions.
Addressing at press conference in New York, Dr. Rao presented the organization’s priorities and vision 2026 and announced that innovation will be given central status in all of APPNA’s educational programs, conferences and community activities.
He said that if a student does not have the financial resources to study or take exams, then APPNA’s scholarship and loan program will provide all possible help.
Dr. Babar Rao also introduced his team members.
APPNA President said that he has also proposed the establishment of three ad hoc committees, including the involvement of medical and pre-medical students, the Council for Early Career Physicians, and the Corporate Relations and Industry Liaison Committee with the approval of the Board of Directors. He said we want that no student to be deprived of education due to lack of financial resources.
Replying to a questions on various topics and the organizational mission, Dr. Babar Rao announced that three new programs will be introduced in the year 2026 to encourage the youth, including APPNA Scholar, APPNA Hero and APPNA Sur program consisting of singing.
He said that APPNA’s Social Welfare Committee plans to start food pantries at the national level in the US and an emergency care center for children in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Dr. Rao said that new medical missions are also being considered in Jordan and Africa.
Earlier, former president and current co-chair Dr. Samina Qureshi expressed hope that the organization will perform well under the leadership of Dr. Babar Rao.
To a question, Dr. Babar said that APPNA is going to complete its 50-year journey of service and it is time for the organization to play an active role in areas such as modern technology, artificial intelligence, robotics and Healthcare 4.0.
He said that all committees have been organized into new and broader area for organizational transparency and effective communication. He said that a new website will be launched, which will also include a chat box.
