NEWYORK: Pakistan has reiterated its call for an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
In a statement at the United Nations Security Council, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Asim Iftikhar Ahmed said Pakistan reaffirms its unwavering support for Palestinian people in their just struggle for self-determination.
Asim Iftikhar Ahmed also called for an end to military operations in Gaza.
He said Pakistan stands resolutely with the majority of this Council and indeed with the majority of the UN membership reflecting the expectations of the wider international community.
Pakistan envoy said we stand on the side of humanity and with justice and with international law.
He said people of Gaza have trapped between relentless bombardment and a suffocating blockade.
He said children are starving and hospitals have collapsed while families have no food, no medicine and no shelter.
