KARACHI: The brother of Pakistani actress Humaira Asghar, whose body was found in her rented apartment in Karachi’s DHA area, arrived Karachi to claim her body for burial, police said.
Police officials said that Naveed Asghar, brother of Humaira, arrived from Lahore and informed the police that he wanted to take his sister’s body to Lahore for burial.
The decomposed body of the 32-year-old Humaira, best known for her roles in the reality show ‘Tamasha Ghar’ and film ‘Jalaibee,’ was discovered in her flat in Karachi’s DHA on July 8.
Police said her body was found after police personnel arrived at her home in the Defence Housing Authority neighborhood to enforce a court-eviction order.
According to a police, police personnel broke down Ali’s door after a court-appointed bailiff received no response and found her body lying inside.
Initial police investigations suggested that the deceased Pakistani actress had died six months ago.
Humaira Asghar’s father had refused to claim her mortal remains and perform her final rites however her brother arrived in Karachi to claim her body.
The official revealed that the family had no contact with Humaira Asghar since October 2024.
Police however said that actress’s family did not suspect anybody of having a role in her death.
Humaira Asghar had been living alone in the apartment for several years and stopped paying rent in early 2024, prompting the landlord to seek legal action.
Her last known activity on social media was in September 2024, and her phone records show no communication after October 4.
