New York State Supreme Court dismisses defamation case against VOSA TV

NEWYORK: The New York State Supreme Court dismissed the defamation case against Voice of South Asia TV in the first hearing, declaring it baseless.

The court declared all the allegations made by petitioner Ahmed Ali Uzair against the VOSA TV management and affiliated individuals as baseless.

New York resident Ahmed Ali Aziz, who is also an auxiliary captain in the New York Police Department, filed a defamation lawsuit against VOSA TV and other individuals associated with it in the New York State Supreme Court.

The petitioner alleged that VOSA TV demonstrated baseless journalism, broadcast news against him and tried to blackmail him.

The New York State Supreme Court summoned VOSA TV management and other individuals associated with him on July 3.

VOSA TV President Fahim Mian produced documentary evidence of the broadcast and publication of news related to Ahmed Ali Aziz during his appearance in the court.

Fahim Mian submitted that VOSA TV has always supported the truth. He said that all the news was based on facts and the VOSA TV team practiced very responsible journalism and broadcast its news based on facts.

During the hearing, the petitioner Ahmed Ali Aziz failed to prove his allegations against VOSA TV.

The court completed the cross-examination and after completing the proceedings declared that all the allegations made by the petitioner against VOSA TV as baseless and dismissed the defamation case.

Voice of South Asia CEO Zahid Rana said that VOSA TV did journalism based on truth. He said that non-discriminatory community service and access to accurate information to the public is the main goal of VOSA TV.

He said that court declaration in the favour of the VOSA TV is a victory of truth and justice. He said that all the allegations leveled against the VOSA TV were found baseless. He said that American law promotes freedom of the press and the justice has done with the decision of the esteemed court and it is also victory of press freedom.

CEO VOSA TV also said that after the court ruling the administration is consulting lawyers through its legal advisor Ehsanullah Bobby for its future course of action.
