NEWYORK: The effective and powerful voice of the South Asian community in America, Voice of South Asia TV has successfully completed seven years of its broadcasting.
The seventh anniversary of VOSA was celebrated at the Party Hall Marquee in Long Island, New York.
The event began with a recitation of holy Quran by renowned religious scholar Tasawar-ul-Hassan Gilani while Rana Akhlaq presented a Naat in honor of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
A large number of members of the Pakistani American community participated in the anniversary. The event was moderated by Rida and Maryam, who welcomed all the guests, and gave them a brief introduction about the Voice of South Asia TV.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams and Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages attended as special guests.
Addressing the participants, Mayor Eric Adams congratulated VOSA TV on its seventh anniversary, saying that the partnership between him and the Pakistani community is very strong and old, and freedom of expression is a great blessing.
VOSA TV President Fahim Mian expressed his gratitude to Mayor Eric Adams and Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages and presented them bouquet.
Addressing the participants, Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages from District 22 said that the South Asian community has played a significant role in the development of this city in every field. She also presented a citation for VOSA TV’s journalistic services.
The ceremony was also attended by political, social and business figures of the Pakistani American community, as well as high-ranking Pakistani-origin officers in the New York Police Department.
Senator Tom Suozzi and Chuck Schumer’s office representatives also attended the event and congratulated VOSA on its seventh anniversary expressing their best wishes.
Consul General of Pakistan in New York Aamir Ahmed Atuzai, also attended the ceremony.
He congratulated the entire VOSA team. He said that Voice of South Asia has played a bridge role in promoting connections between the community and American departments.
Heads, officials and members of various organizations of the Pakistani American community also attended the VOSAs 7 th anniversary celebrations.
Voice of South Asia CEO Zahid Rana and President Fahim Mian expressed their gratitude to the audience. They said that VOSA TV, which was started seven years ago from Coney Island Avenue, has now become an effective voice of the entire South Asian community.
Social workers Shabbir Gul and Iram Hanif were awarded appreciation certificates by Consul General Aamir Ahmed Atuzai, Taj Akbar was awarded by Michaelle Solages, and Asad Chaudhry was awarded by Mayor Eric Adams for their community services.
Many social workers and community leaders who received the award expressed their gratitude to VOSA and congratulated it on seven years of success. The speakers said that it is the responsibility of all of us to play their role for the betterment of the community.
Shahryar Ali, a candidate for the legislature from District 14 of Nassau County, Long Island, said that the South Asian community and the media have always been very supportive, and he expressed hope that this time the overwhelming support of community will make history in the form of his victory.
Renowned poet Ijaz Bhatti captivated everyone by reciting poetry full of humor in his unique style and tone.
A beautiful cake was also prepared to celebrate the anniversary of VOSA TV, which was cut by CEO Zahid Rana, President Fahim Mian, Inspector Adeel Rana, businessman Khurram Khan, Imtiaz Ahmed and the VOSA team. APPAC board member Naheed Bhatti congratulated the VOSA team and presented a bouquet.
The event was also attended by Muslim Women Liaison of the Mayor’s Office Atiya Shahnaz, APAG President Ali Rashid, Atiq Qadri from PACOLI, Tahira Din, Safdar Humayun and others, who appreciated the responsible journalism of Voice of South Asia. The participants said that VOSA TV has achieved a great position in a short time.
The South Asian community participated in the 7 th anniversary ceremony with enthusiasm and proved that VOSA TV is their true voice.
They were of the view that VOSA not only highlights their problems, but was also playing an important role in guiding them while drawing their attention to social issues.
Later, renowned Qawali artists presented famous Qawalis and enthralled the audience from their performance.
VOSA TV CEO Zahid Rana invited VOSA President Fahim Mian’s mother and spouse at stage and thanked them. He said that whatever we are today, it is because of the prayers of our parents.
