SACRAMENTO: A prominent and courageous member of the US House of Representatives, Alan Green has announced introducing impeachment motion against President Donald Trump and said that he has prepared a formal draft and practical steps have also been initiated on it.
He was addressing a reception dinner hosted in his honor by Dr. Jawad Arif, the son of senior Pakistani journalist Ariful Haq Arif and a well-known social figure in Sacramento, at his residence, which was attended by prominent figures of the community and a large number of people.
Alan Green termed the Israeli bombing and the martyrdom of innocent civilians in Gaza a massacre and said that he could not remain silent about such Israeli atrocity.
He made it clear that he would not vote in favor of any bill presented in Congress in support of Israel.
The reception began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Maryam Jawad recited the Holy Quran. Host Dr. Jawad Arif welcomed the guests. Dr. Jawad paid tribute to Congressman Alan Green for his services to the humanity and supporting the oppressed Palestinians.
A young politician from the Houston Ibrahim Javed introduced Alan Green and said that Alan Green is the first Congressman who has raised his voice against Israeli aggression from the very beginning and demanded a ceasefire.
Congressman Alan Green thanked the participants and said that he always listen to the voice of conscience without thinking about profit or loss.
He also strongly criticized the growing influence of the Israeli lobby AIPAC on American politics, and revealed that this lobby spent millions of dollars to defeat two prominent pro-Palestinian congressmen. He said that Israeli lobby in particular invested $25 million to defeat Jamaal Bowman in the Bronx which is clear evidence of the lobby’s ambitions and influence.
Alan Green said that his struggle is not limited to international affairs, but he has also been a strong critic of Donald Trump’s policies domestically.
He said that the president’s attitude towards Medicare and other public welfare projects has been unacceptable, which he has openly opposed.
He also said that he does not compromise on principles that is why he does not shy away from criticizing the leadership of his own party, the Democratic Party.
He criticized Democrats leader in Senate Chuck Schumer and said that as the leader of the opposition Schumer has failed to fulfill his responsibilities effectively.
The host of the program, Dr. Jawad Arif and community leader Ibrahim Javed, paid tribute to the courageous services of Alan Green, saying that he has always raised the voice of truth and justice, especially in favor of the Muslims and the Palestinian people, and his voice is heard and appreciated throughout America.
A question and answer session was also held during the program, in which the participants participated with great enthusiasm and asked important questions related to the internal politics of Palestine and America.
The participants said that leaders like Alan Green are the true champions of democracy, who stand firm against pressure, opposition, and lobbies.
Later, Dr. Jawad Arif said that the purpose of this event is to appreciate leaders who support the oppressed in all circumstances, even if they have to pay a price for it at any level. Alan Green gained fame for protesting at President Trump’s first joint session of parliament on which Trump had him thrown out by a sergeant at arms.
