
NEWYORK: Social organization People in Need organized its fourth annual unity iftar dinner at Jalsa restaurant Coney Island avenue. The prominent personalities, who participated in the ceremony, were honored with awards.
The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran.
The hosts of the event and the founders of the organization, Anurag and Nosheen Ali, welcomed the guests and welcomed them on their arrival.
A large number of people from different walks of life, including political, social and business circles, participated in the ceremony.
Nosheen Ali and Anurag said that we always wanted to help people who are going through difficult times and keeping such thing in our mind we formed the organization and are fulfilling our duty.
New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, Councilmember Shahana Hanif, Councilmember Rita Joseph, Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce President Randy Peers, and other American officials also attended the iftar dinner.
Addressing participants, Public Advocate Jumaane Williams and Randy Pierce said that we are all equal as in humanity, color, race, nationality, and religion do not matter.
They said that such organizations were an example for everyone as hands of those who share are never empty.
Members and volunteers of People in Need actively participated in the arrangements.
Councilmember Rita Joseph and Shahana Hanif said that the coming together of different communities, breaking the fast together, and helping each other is the beauty of our society.
Later, a female representative from Assemblyman Robert Carroll’s office and others also expressed their views.
The speakers said that the traditions of the South Asian community are very wonderful, and even in the time of Corona, they have seen them helping the needy.
