NEWYORK: New York State Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar announced that she will contest for the post of public advocate and establish the city’s first Muslim American community center.
She was speaking at a fundraising and iftar dinner held in her honor by the Pakistan-American community.
Pakistani community business and social figures Khurram Khan and Malik Anwar hosted an Iftar dinner and a fundraiser in honor of New York City Public Advocate candidate Jenifer Rajkumar in Brooklyn.
The event’s hosts warmly welcomed their guest upon her arrival. Assemblywoman Jennifer Rajkumar also met with members of the Pakistan-American community.
Addressing participants, she said that coming to Coney Island strengthens her belief in success.
The event was attended by a large number of people from different walks of life, including journalists, political, social and business circles, and Muslim officers in the New York Police Department.
Jenifer Rajkumar also announced establishment of a community center for Muslims in New York City and appealed to vote in the election.
The event’s hosts, Khurram Khan and Malik Anwar, thanked all the guests for their presence.
The participants of the iftar dinner and fundraising assured Jenifer Raj that Kumar would succeed in the June 4 election through votes.
