NAMAL scholarship club USA holds fundraising event for needy students

NEWYORK: NAMAL scholarship club USA organized a fundraising dinner in New York for NAMAL University. A photo and a signed bat of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf’s founder Imran Khan were also auctioned at the event.

The fundraising dinner organized by the NAMAL scholarship club USA at private hotel in Long Island.

The chief organizer of the fundraising, Tasawar Ahsan, and his wife welcomed the special guests Senator Waleed Iqbal, Sajjad Burki, and famous fashion designer Maria B. and presented them bouquets.

Addressing participants, Tasawar Ahsan announced a donation of $15,000 while Ahmed Khan announced a donation of $20,000 on behalf of his family.

They said that charity, alms, and donations are a trade with Allah Almighty that never incurs a loss.

Pervez Riaz, Zameer Chaudhry, Khawar Baig, Shahid Warraich and Usman Chaudhry, who were part of the host committee, also encouraged the participants to bear the cost of scholarships for needy students.

They said that if we reduce our expenses a little and show selflessness, the education expenses of a student can be covered.

Imran Khan’s photo and his signed bat were also auctioned at the fundraising dinner.

Other members of the host committee said that Imran Khan has fulfilled the dream of high-quality education in Pakistan in the form of NAMAL University.  They said that education is the solution to all problems and we should all pay our dues to the motherland.

Special guests Sajjad Burki and Senator Walid Iqbal presented the work of NAMAL University so far to the audience.

The participants were told that the annual cost of education for a student is $3,500, while the cost of a four-year program is $14,000. They said that university is for the youth of all over Pakistan and if you have passion, it is not difficult to afford these educational expenses.

Famous Pakistani fashion designer Maria B, who participated in the ceremony, also expressed her views.

Addressing audience, she said that she always wanted to do something for Pakistan and everyone should always try for a good cause. She said that education changes the destiny of not only an individual but also a family.

At the fundraising dinner, the Pakistani American community generously donated for scholarships for students of NAMAL University. Business and social figure Shazia Wattoo announced that she would take responsibility for the scholarship of 10 students. Finally, the lively performance of singer Shazia Manzoor enthralled the audience.
