NYPD holds pre-Ramdan conference in Queens; assures Muslim community of complete protection during Ramdan

NEWYORK: Preparations for Ramadan began in New York. The New York Police Department has assured the Muslim community that all the mosques in NYC will be completely protected.

The annual pre-Ramadan conference organized by the Community Affairs Bureau of the New York Police Department at the Police Academy in Queens began with the recitation of the Holy Quran.

The conference was attended by Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, senior officers, scholars, Muslim community leaders and city elders in large numbers.

Chaplain Imam Tahir explained the virtues and importance of Ramadan in the light of the Quran and Hadith.

Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch and Deputy Commissioner of the Community Affairs Bureau Mark Stewart congratulated Muslims on Ramadan. They said that there is currently no threat and the police are active to protect the lives and property of every citizen.

Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch further said that the services of the Muslim Officers Society, the representative organization of Muslim officers, are commendable.

On this occasion, other senior NYPD officers said that hate crimes have no place in this city.

Muslim officers also participated in the Ramadan conference in large numbers.

The first Pakistani-origin inspector in the NYPD and former president of the MOS Adeel Rana and the newly elected President of Muslim Officers Society Captain Waheed Akhtar said that this city is an example of interfaith harmony and tolerance, and Muslims will not have any problems during the month of Ramadan.

On this occasion, Muslim female officers congratulated everyone in advance on the arrival of Ramadan and gave a message of peace and unity.

Participants of the event were reminded to immediately call 911 in case of any suspicious activity or emergency. The Muslim community appreciated the efforts of the police department for providing security and assuring cooperation during the holy month of Ramadan.
