NEWYORK: Another matter of pride and honor for Muslims in the New York Police Department as Deputy Inspector Abdullah Khandakar, a Bangladeshi-American, has been promoted to the rank of Inspector. Another promoted officers included Sergeant Mohammad Kharl and Sergeant Talha Ahmed.
New York Police Department organized a grant ceremony to give promotions to his officers. The ceremony was attended not only by the police officers but also their families.
The participants of the ceremony gave a big round of applause soon as the name of Bangladeshi-origin Deputy Inspector Abdullah Khandakar was called for promotion to the rank of Inspector. Abdullah Khandakar is the first Bangladeshi-origin Inspector in the NYPD.
Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch presented him with the badge of the rank of inspector. On this occasion, Abdullah Khandakar said that it is a matter of pride to be promoted to the rank of inspector and expressed commitment that together we will make this city even better.
The ceremony was also attended by the first Pakistani-origin Inspector Adeel Rana, Deputy Inspector Misbah Noor and Captain Waheed Akhtar.
On this occasion, Police Officers Mohammad Kharal and Talha Ahmed were promoted to the rank of sergeant. They said that they came to the United States in 1997 and joined the police department in 2007. The promoted officers attributed their success to family and community.
