HOUSTON: The first newly elected Pakistani-American constable in the US Ali Sheikhani took oath of the office. County judge KP George administered oath to Ali Sheikhani as the constable of Precinct 3 in a oath taking ceremony at Fort Bend County office.
Pakistani-American Ali Sheikhani, who won the election for the constable of Precinct 3 in Houston’s Fort Bend County in the recent US elections, took the oath of office.
The ceremony was attended by a large number of senior government officials, including prominent personalities of the Pakistani community. Later, Ali Sheikhani administered the oath of office to the officers and personnel of his department in his office.
The officers who took the oath included Pakistani-origin Police Captain Saad Tariq and Chief of Precinct 3 Constable Office Muzaffar Siddiqui.
Ali Sheikhani said that Ford Bend is a very diverse county. He said that experienced police officers from many communities, including Pakistanis, have been made part of the team.
On this occasion, young police officer Saad Tariq, who was appointed to the position of Captain, said that the selection of Ali Sheikhani and other Pakistani officers is a matter of pride for the entire community.
In the United States, citizens elect their representatives for the sheriff’s office and constable’s office at the county level to monitor the police and ensure law and order in the county.
