Work together to do better : Philemon Yang

New Year Greetings from Philemon Yang, President of the General Assembly

New York: As we celebrate the New Year and look to the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, I call on all citizens of the world to come together in the spirit of ‘unity in diversity’, recognizing that our differences should not be a source of division but of strength.

In Video Remarks by the President of the General Assembly Philemon Yang said that during the current year, 2024, we have achieved remarkable things and overcome immense obstacles.

He emphasised that together, we will address each of the challenges that lie in our path.

In the forthcoming year, 2025, let us seize the opportunity to reflect on our accomplishments and chart a path forward that allows us to advance together, even further, even faster, towards universal well-being.

As President of the General Assembly, I am committed to working with all parties to end conflicts, usher in peace, work towards economic progress and demonstrate support to our fellow human beings, wherever they are on our planet.

Let us work together to do better, to be better to ourselves, and to each other. Let us do right by our planet and our environment. Let us build a world of shared prosperity and human dignity.

I wish you all a very happy and wonderful New Year, 2025.
