Mayor Adams appoints Pakistani American Dr. Mohammad Khalid as chairman of CCRB

NEWYORK: New York city Mayor Eric Adams has appointed Dr. Mohammad Khalid, a prominent figure in the Pakistani American community, as chairman of the Civilian Complaint Review Board, an organization that responds to any complaints against officers and employees of the New York Police Department.

Dr. Mohammad Khalid is the first Pakistani American to be appointed to this important position.

The appointment will be ratified after approval by the New York city Council.

Dr. Mohammad Khalid was the commissioner of the “CCRB” under former Mayor Michael Bloomberg and has now been appointed as the head of the most important institution, “CCRB”.

Dr. Khalid said that it is an honor for him to be appointed as the interim chairman of the Civil Complaint Review Board.

Dr. Mohammad Khalid also thanked Mayor Adams and the Speaker of the City Council and said that he is ready to fulfill the duties of the chairman well.

He further said that he will ensure the safety of the public and maintain a fair relationship with the New York Police Department.

Dr. Khalid was also appointed to the New York State Minority Health Council by former Governor George Pataki for a six-year term.

Mayor Eric Adams said in a statement that Dr. Mohammad Khalid is an excellent choice for the position because of his experience in civic activism and previous service with the CCRB.

Dr. Mohammad Khalid is a dedicated community leader who boasts decades of civic involvement and a distinguished career in dentistry. Born in Peshawar, Pakistan, Dr. Khalid immigrated to New York City in 1972 at the age of 23. Dr. Khalid’s dental practice in Eltingville, Staten Island has been a steadfast neighborhood institution since 1977.

Dr. Khalid’s commitment to his community shows through his participation in numerous civic organizations, including the Association of Pakistani Physicians of North America, the Iron Hills Civic Association of Staten Island, and Community Board.

Dr. Khalid previously served on the Civilian Complaint Review Board from 2005-2014. Dr. Khalid is the Staten Island City Council Designee.
