NEWYORK: Attorney and County Legislature Carrie Solages of Nassau County, New York presented a $50,000 cheque to ICNA Relief, the largest Muslim welfare organization in the United States, having inspired with the organization welfare activities.
Nassau County Legislature Carrie Solages, along with Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages, visited the Hamza Masjid in Valley Stream to review the preparations for the ICNA Food Pantry.
President of Hamza Masjid Sarfraz Ahmed and spokesperson of ICNA Muawiz Siddiqui briefed them about the welfare activities.
On this occasion, Carrie Solages praised the services of Hamza Masjid and said that it is not only a Masjid but also an excellent community and cultural center.
He presented a $50,000 check to ICNA Relief, which was received by Muawiz Siddiqui. Legislature Carrie Solages and Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages said that ICNA Relief has set an example by serving the community in need without discrimination.
Masjid-e-Hamza President Sarfraz Ahmed and ICNA Relief representative Muawiz Siddiqui said that we have been carrying out welfare activities for many years with the support of the Muslim community, but this is the first time that a government grant has been received. They said that all the money will be spent on the needy persons with transparency.
General Secretary of Masjid Hamza Javad Yaqoob and Shakeel ur Rehman were also present at the check-giving ceremony.
“Receiving the government grant is an expression of trust in Masjid Hamza and ICNA Relief”, they added.
On this occasion, Carrie Solages was very impressed by seeing the gym set up at the premises of Masjid Hamza and also did an exercise.
