NEWYORK: A fundraising event was held to expand the new project of Hamza Academy, a modern center for religious and modern education in the New York.
This new project requires a huge sum of $5.5 million. A grand and dignified ceremony of fundraising was held at a local hall in New York. Hamza Academy students Musa Afridi and Mohammad Usman initiated the ceremony with recitation of the Holy Quran. Later, a group of students presented Qaseeda Burda Sharif.
A large number of people associated with the political, social and business sectors participated in the fundraising event.
Hamza Academy’s director Ahsan Syed briefed the participants about the need to expand the project and presented the complete plan.
He said that it is necessary to construct a new building for the school in line with modern requirements in order to provide facilities to students keeping in view of present era requirements.
People associated with different walks of life participated in the ceremony along with their families, which proved that how much the Muslim community take interest in the Hamza Academy.
On this occasion, minor children recited 99 names of Allah Almighty in their beautiful voice. The audience was very impressed by the intelligence, pronunciation and delivery of the children.
Renowned religious scholars Mufti Mohammad Farhan and Sheikh Abdul Hakeem Ali Mohammad participated in the fund raising event as special guests.
The scholars gave a detailed presentation on the topic of our future and appreciated the religious and modern education of Muslim children at Hamza Academy as well as the better training.
The speakers said that achieving success in the present era should not only be our priority, but it is also our first responsibility to make the new generation a responsible and moral member of a society along with education and research.
Sheikh Abdul Hakeem Ali Mohammad shed light on the importance, virtue and reward of spending in the path of Allah Almighty. He said that whoever spends in the path of the Allah with good intentions, he gets ten times more in return.
Masjid Hamza President Sarfaraz Ahmed informed the participants about the aims and objectives of the establishment of the school and the need for a new building and also expressed his gratitude to the participants.
Addressing the audience, Sarfaraz Ahmed said that the construction of the new building of Hamza Academy could not be completed without the cooperation of all Muslim community.
A grade six student studying at Hamza Academy presented her arguments on the establishment and need for Islamic schools in an American society. The student said that Hamza Academy is no less than anyone in teaching and extracurricular activities.
The participants of the fund raising event generously donated their donations and also reiterated their firm commitment to complete the construction of the school.
