Donald Trump wins US elections second time

NEWYORK: Republican candidate Donald Trump has won the US presidential election winning a landslide victory in swing states. Democrats candidate Kamala Harris has secured 226 electoral colleges against the Trump who has won the 295 crossing the majority mark of 270.

Trump will be the second Republican President in last 20 years who got a second term in office in 20 years followed by George Bush who was elected twice in a row in 2001 and 2005 elections.

“The outcome of this election is not what we wanted, not what we fought for, not what we voted for. But hear me when I say, the light of America’s promise will always burn bright as long as we never give up and as long as we keep fighting,” Democrats candidate Kamala Harris said conceding defeat in the elections.

“While I concede this election, I do not concede the fight that fuelled this campaign,” she said urging her supporters to “keep fighting”.

Trump has already won the swing states of Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, and is leading in the other two – Arizona, and Nevada.

Donald Trump thanked various communities in America for their support. “Asian Americans, Muslim Americans, Arab Americans… Everybody came out in our support. It was a historic re-alignment. The Republican Party is the party of common sense!” he said.

Trump urged Americans to unite for a brighter future. “It is time to put the division of the past four years behind us. Success will bring us together… We have to put America first, at least for a period of time. We have to make America great again. I won’t let you down. Our future will be safer and stronger than ever before,” he said.

Trump will become the first defeated President in 132 years to win another term. He will also be the oldest President ever elected. Before him it was Joe Biden who held the Presidency at the age of 78 years and 61 days.
