NEWYORK: In celebration of Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr. invited the Pakistani community to his office in New York.

Business and social personalities of New York Saeed Hassan and Ali Rashid organized the event. The program was started with the American and Pakistani national anthems.
Pakistani American journalist Ayeza Irfan moderated the event, who introduced the guests and informed about the historical background related to Pakistan’s Independence Day.

A large number of people from different walks of life including political, social and business personalities of the Pakistani American community participated in the event.
Addressing participants, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards congratulated Pakistanis on the 77th Independence Day and appreciated the growing role of Pakistanis in business activities in his constituency.

Pakistani Consul General Aamir Ahmed Atuzai said that freedom is a great blessing and its importance is known only by those who have sacrificed a lot for it.
In the Independence Day ceremony, participants were shown a documentary based on the culture, lifestyle, traditions and social values of Pakistan.

Hosts of the event Saeed Hasan and Ali Rashid have highlighted the social activities and working of their organizations during the Covid-19 pandemic and pledged that a large scale independence day celebrations to be organized in next coming years.
Children, youth, women and men all presented their own unique tableaus, sang national songs and expressed their undying love for the motherland.

The participants of the event said that a long time has passed since they migrated from Pakistan, but their love for the country has never diminished.
In the end, citations were presented to prominent personalities of the Pakistani community in recognition of his services.
