MUHSEN organizes family gathering at Hillside Islamic Center

NEWYORK: Muslim Understanding and Helping Special Education Needs organized a family gathering at the Hillside Islamic Center in which families actively participated and participated in social activities with differently abled children.

Muslim Understanding and Helping Special Education Needs (MUHSEN) is a non-profit organization serving individuals and families with mental and physical disabilities. MUHSEN works to create inclusive and accessible American Muslim communities for individuals with disabilities and their families.

The organization’s mission is to promote awareness, acceptance and facilities in local communities for families of differently abled children and change the narrative about differently abled children in the Muslim community. MUHSEN New York organized an event for differently abled children in collaboration with the Hillside Islamic Center.

The activity was led by speech and language pathologist Qazi Shaun and the Masjid ‘s Quran teacher, Saira Sultan. Many families attended the event and participated in social activities with differently abled children. The children learnt the teachings of the Quran through Islamic stories while the participants also acquired skills in reading the Quran and other Islamic teachings.
