NEWYORK: The New York Police Department and the Community Affairs Bureau have started an annual youth cricket league.
The annual youth cricket league has been held in the summer school holidays to keep the students engaged in extracurricular activities during their vacations.
New York Police Department and Community Affairs Bureau have launched the annual NYPD Youth Cricket League at Baisely Pond Park in Queens.
Community Affairs Bureau Deputy Commissioner Mark Stewart inaugurated the league by playing short in the first match.
At the beginning of the league, Imam Tahir offered a prayer. The national anthem of America was also played followed by the NYPD squad’s salute.
In this league, the players of the New York Police Department’s cricket team are performing the responsibilities of umpiring.
President of NYPD team Ahmed Chauhan said that cricket was developing significantly in New York. The school students welcomed the annual cricket league and said that it will be good addition in their sports activities.
