PPP US observes black day against the July 5, 1977 military coup

NEWYORK:Pakistan People Party USA observed black day against the July 5 1977’s military coup of General Ziaul Haq in which he dethroned the democratic elected government of former prime minister Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.

PPP Lahore’s finance secretary Mohammad Ashraf Khan was the chief guest of the event organized by the PPP US.

The speakers of the event said that former prime minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto sacrificed his life but did not bow down infront of dictator.

PPP USA president Khalid Awan said that July 5 1977 will be remember as the black day in the history of country. He said PPP leadership and workers faced the brutalities of the military regime of Zia ul Haq during the martial law for restoration of constitution and democracy in the country.

PPP New York President Zafar Chatta welcomed the chief guest Mohammad Ashraf and said that nation was facing the consequences of unlawful military rule and action of military dictator till now and the memory of this persecution is still fresh today.

PPP New York Senior Vice President Jamshed Gujjar said that today all Pakistanis have realized what vision Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto had for Pakistan and why he was hanged.

Speaking at the event, Chief Guest Mohammad Ashraf said that the works done by ZA Bhutto were historical and that is the reason why the vision of Bhuttoism is still alive even today and will continue forever.

Pakistan People’s Party US President Khalid Awan, New York President Zafar Chatta and other workers including Senior Vice President Jamshed Gujjar participated in the special meeting and paid tribute to their leader.
