South Asian community celebrates US Independence Day

NEWYORK: US Independence Day was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm in Brooklyn, New York. Pakistani community businessman and social personality Mian Fayyaz organized an event for the South Asian community at Royal community care center to celebrate the Independence Day.

The program was started with recitation of Holy Quran followed by Naat in honor of Prophet  Muhammad (PEACE BE UPON HIM) recited by social personality in Brooklyn Raja Razak.

The program moderator Roohi Malik informed the participants about the importance of July 4. On this occasion, the American national Anthem was played and the flag was hoisted outside the center.

The South Asian community including Pakistanis, Bangladeshis and Indians along with their children participated in the Independence Day festival.

Pakistani community representative Mian Fayyaz had laid the foundation for celebrating the Independence Day nineteen years back in New York.

Mian Fayyaz said that South Asian Community is our asset and we also tried to pay tribute to mothers who are the real and best teachers of our children.

Professor Mohammad Rafiq Bhatti who came from Pakistan also participated in the July 4 festival. He said that it is an honor to participate in America’s Independence Day ceremony. On this occasion, he recited some verses of the well-known poet Akhtar Sherani for the hearing of the audience.

The organizers of the event also organized quiz program for the children in which questions based on mental tests were asked. The children also recited Holy Quran while prizes were distributed to the children and mothers for giving correct answers.

The participants also enjoyed the music concert at the end of event and also cut the cake in celebration of the 248th Independence Day of the United States.
