NEWYORK: “Chand Raat Bazaar” will be set up for the first time at Valley Stream, Long Island on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha.
This was decided in an organizing committee and community meeting held at New York’s local hotel. The Chand Raat Bazaar will be set up under the management of Saiban on June 14 where garments, bangles, Mehndi and other Eid related items will be available.
The participants of the meeting lauded the services of Chaudhry Mohammad Akram, an advisor to Nassau county’s executive Bruce Blakeman, for getting the permit for holding a festival at Nassau county.
Giving details of “Chand Raat Bazaar”, renowned journalist Mujeeb Lodhi said that it is our efforts to set up a Bazaar for the community of the area where women can get all items for Eid and they may not face any difficulty for Eid shopping.
Social activist of the community Mohsin Shah said that Chaudhry Akram has played an important role for organizing this program and the program was going to be organized due to efforts of Chaudhry Akram.
Senior advisor to Nassau county’s executive Chaudhry Akram said that the maximum participation of women in this festival will guarantee its success and it will be our responsibility to bring a large number of people to this event.
Expressing his opinion regarding the event in the meeting, executive director of the Office of Asian American Affairs of Nassau County Aun Naqvi said that we should make this festival as a platform which is not only continued on the eve of Eid but it can continue for entire year where our women and children can enjoy Eid shopping while being safe.
The participants of the meeting also assured their support for the success of the event and expressed their opinion to make it memorable.
The Chand Raat festival will not only have all the essentials of Eid shopping, but the famous Qawal Imran Aziz Mian will also pay a tribute to Aziz Mian and other legends in Qawwali Time live concert. Swings will also be arranged for the entertainment of children.
