Over 10 million immigrants entered the US illegally, Texas governor

TEXAS (NEWS DESK):  Texas Governor Greg Abbott said that Texas is not only the most advanced economy in US but also the 8th largest economy in the world with a GDP of $2.4 trillion.

He said that more than 10 million persons have entered in the US illegally in last three years which was causing an extraordinary burden on the country’s economy.

Governor Abbott was speaking as a special guest in a fundraising event held at the residence of Dr. Rao Kamran Ali, a member of the Texas Medical Board and chairman of Pakistan-American Political Action Committee PAK-PAC. Prominent community leaders, lawyers, doctors and the business community persons attended the fundraising event.

Governor Abbott  said that Joe Biden’s administration has failed to enforce existing laws for illegal immigrants but the  Texas was completely enforcing the immigrants laws. Governor Texas said that freedom of speech does not mean that education of the students be affected in name of protest demonstrations and there was a legal way to lodge protest either it be about the Gaza or any other issue.

Eminent lawyer Saba Ahmed, who was the co-host of the event, introduced the governor and said that Governor Abbott is among the first hundred influential politicians of the world.

Governor Texas said that he has made the state of Texas the most developed state in the United States in the last ten years.

Greg Abbott said that the state of Texas is currently the eighth largest economy in the world with a GDP of $2.4 trillion and will become the seventh largest economy in the world by next year.

He further said that the state of Texas is the most favorable state of the US in terms of business opportunities, which is the reason why every day about nineteen hundred people are moving to Texas from other states like California and New York.

He said that Texas administration has no problem for improving the infrastructure as only $144 billion is available to the state of Texas just for roads and infrastructure.

The governor said the state of Texas generated $24 billion in additional revenue last year while the economy across the country was struggling.

He pointed out that citizens were directly benefited through $18 billion property tax cut from the additional revenue.

Mr. Abbott said that illegal immigrants are a burden on the country’s economy while the legal immigrants are directly affected by them.

He said that more than 100 million people entered in the US illegally in the past three years and spending tax payers’ money on the welfare of these illegal immigrants is unjust for the US taxpayers.

He said that immigrants who have legally settled in the United States or who have obtained citizenship were facing extraordinary delay in their cases and the illegal immigrants were the main reasons for such delay.

He said that it is the primary responsibility of the US government under the US law to prevent illegal immigrants from entering into the US and prosecute such people.

The participants and co-hosts asked questions from the Governor on the occasion.

Dr. Abdul-Ahed said that group of more than 800 North Texas doctors were willing to cooperate with the Abbott’s administration. Governor Greg Abbott appreciated his offer and advised him to stay in touch with the government.

On this occasion, a student, Sarah Kamran Ali, asked the governor regarding the ongoing protests at the University of Austin and the University of Dallas, Texas. Governor Greg Abbott said that freedom of expression should not mean that other students education be affected by camping in the university.

He said that legal way is available to lodge protest whether it is about Gaza or any other issue and it must be followed.

He said that everyone has freedom of speech in US but that doesn’t mean anything could be said at anywhere and anytime.

On this occasion, the Pakistani community asked the governor to support the promotion of small businesses, as well as to appoint members of the Pakistani community to the positions appointed by the governor in the state of Texas.

Governor Abbott thanked all the participants, including the host of the event Dr. Kamran Ali and his wife Sunila Khan, Kashif Khan and Saba Ahmed and said that his ten years performance is in front of everyone. He also appealed to the Pakistani community to continue their cooperation in the elections.
