Pakistanis collect $ 200,000 donation for Cancer Care Hospital Lahore

Construction of hospital to be completed within 4 to 5 years, Ehtesham Qazi

NEW YORK:  Pakistanis living in New York have collected donations of $ 200,000 to construct the cancer care hospital established in Lahore.

The annual fundraising event was held at a local restaurant in New York for the cancer care hospital and research center established in Lahore. The ceremony was started with a recitation of the Holy Quran,

The fund-raising event was attended by prominent figures associated with the Pakistani American community’s political, social, and business sectors. On this occasion, two young girls sang the national anthem of Pakistan.

The event was moderated by Athar Tirmizi who introduced the guests and displayed an introductory report regarding information and the provision of treatment and care in the hospital.

Cancer care hospital’s lead coordinators Ehtisham Qazi and Bano Qazi said that 60 percent of the construction of the hospital has been completed while the remaining 40 percent of the construction will be completed in the next four to five years and this hospital will become a ray of hope for cancer patients.

Pakistan’s Consul General in New York Amir Ahmed Atuzai said that Pakistanis hearts are like oceans when we talk about philanthropy and public service.

In the fund-raising event, heads and officials of various organizations of the Pakistani community not only participated in large numbers but also generously gave donations to the hospital.

Head of the central team of the hospital, Prof. Dr. Shehryar, and the director admin of the hospital, Dr. Ghazala Tariq, informed the participants about the performance of the hospital and the medical facilities available in various departments.

They said that 100 beds hospital building was under construction and medical equipment worth Rs.620 million was also being purchased. On this occasion, the participants said that what we overseas Pakistanis do for our fellow countrymen is not their perfection, but it is their duty and our responsibility to return your country and the nation.

Many philanthropists living in other cities of US also sent donations, while Masjids and Islamic centers have also contributed for the construction and completion of the hospital’s under construction projects.
