New York: A bookseller husband and his wife at the Islamic Center in New York City have set a precedent of generosity as they are engaged in healing the plight of Muslim refugees, currently flooded in the metropolis.
Everyone is worried about the unusual influx of immigrants and rising inflation in New York, but the couple who sells books at the Islamic Cultural Center on Third Avenue in Manhattan, have devoted themselves to supporting the refugees, as much as they can afford.
When the refugees turned to the mosque for shelter, Balqees Saleem and her husband initially provided them with food and warm clothes from their resources, and soon many people came forward and contributed in the noble cause.
Bilqees Saleem and her husband have been running this Islamic Book Center for twenty years and have been organizing Saher and Iftar for the Muslims during the holy Ramadan. And now they have excelled in serving the refugees.
Balqis Saleem says that for the first time she has got the opportunity to serve the refugees, as long as there is life, this journey of goodness will continue.
The refugees call Balqis Saleem as ‘Amma’ (Mother) and 250 people benefit from here, every day without hurting their self-esteem.
Bilqees Salim says that providing halal food to refugees in other shelter homes is a big problem, what I am doing is only for the pleasure of Allah Almighty.
