The first-ever Sikh American Heritage program held at Municipal Building, NYC

This is the first time we have held a Sikh event on the occasion of the Guru's birth and we are proud to be the first to establish this tradition: Jumaane Williams

New York: New York City’s Public Advocate Jumaane Williams‘ office hosted the first-ever Sikh American Heritage event, aimed at introducing Sikh American culture to the New Yorkers.

The first-ever program for the Sikh community was held at the office of New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, which was attended by a large number of women, elders, and children from the Sikh community including some 22 Gurdwaras in New York.

The program started with Sikh prayer. Children present in the ceremony also presented religious songs.

Various tableaus were also presented on this occasion, through which the wars in history were also demonstrated.

 Jumaane Williams, who was present at the event, said, “This is the first time we have held a Sikh event on the occasion of the Guru’s birth and we are proud to be the first to establish this tradition.”

Deputy Public Advocate Kashif Hussain and his team supported the organization of this program in the office of Public Advocate.

Kashif Hussain said that the purpose of the special event regarding Sikh American heritage was to introduce the culture of Sikh Americans in New York City.

The Sikh leaders participating in the event expressed special thanks to Jumaane Williams for hosting such a program for the first time in the Municipal Building.

In the event, special awards were also given to individuals and organizations who have shown outstanding performance in the Sikh community.

Apart from the Sikh community, members of the Pakistani and Bangladeshi communities also participated in the event.
