Letter to the NYC governor and mayor from the President of Brooklyn Borough

Eric Adam, The president of Brooklyn borough, New York, wrote a letter to the governor of New York State and the mayor of New York City in which both senior officials will emphasize that the ethnic media in New York supports immigrant communities. Addressing on a tele press conference with representatives of prominent immigrant communities, including Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Arab, Indian and Muslim communities, Eric Adams said the immigrants in New York’s Borough of Brooklyn use their native languages media rather than english media. And are pursuing electronic and print media published and broadcast in the native languages.

Ethnic media is the instrumental in raising awareness of the growing Corona epidemic in New York’s immigrant communities during this critical time. Immigrant communities’ ethnic media have to fight for their survival because of Corona virus where every US businesses are severely affected.

Therefore, New York State and the City, using their resources to ensure the survival of other businesses, should give equal attention to ethnic media.

Borough President Adams said the only site for the “Corona Test” based in Brooklyn Borough will be closed because of certain health department reservations. “There is thousands of Corona virus infected cases positive reported in Brooklyn and the numbers are increasing every day,” he said. City and state officials must pay attention to this important issue.

 The borough president told ethnic Media to continue his role in awareness for Corona virus covid 19, ethnic media convey the government’s guidelines for New York’s Immigrant Communities and inform citizens to stay at home, strict dherence to hygiene principles.

Eric Adams said that at this critical time, everyone is united in the fight against the Corona virus, which is distinctively targeting everyone.

In the tele press conference, the leaders of the Immigrant Communities, including Council of People’s Organization New York’s Mohammad Rizvi, also addressed and praised Eric Adams’ moves to write the letter to governor and mayor that ethnic Media is the capital of immigrant communities and will be protected at all costs.
