A teenage babysitter Caitlyn Smith, 19, the boy’s aunt, was watching him Tuesday evening at a Houston apartment when she found the weapon and began posing with it. Caitlyn was arrested Wednesday for accidentally shooting a 10-year-old boy while taking selfies with a gun, authorities and a report said. The gun went off, hitting the child in the stomach.
The boy underwent surgery and was in serious condition Wednesday. He was expected to make a full recovery; Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez tweeted.
Smith was booked into Harris County Jail on charges of causing serious bodily injury to a child, public records show. She is due in court Friday. Firearms are dangerous weapons so take precautions to make sure things like that don’t happen, Senior Deputy Thomas Gilliland told media.

On the other news an 18-year-old Tennessee mother was arrested for allegedly lying to investigators about the disappearance of her toddler daughter, officials said Wednesday.
The 15-month-old girl from Blountville, Evelyn Boswell, was last seen in December but was only reported missing this month, authorities have said.
Her mom, Megan Boswell, was charged Tuesday with one count of making false reports, Sullivan County Sheriff Jeff Cassidy stated in a press conference.
We’ve received a number of conflicting, inaccurate statements from the mother, Cassidy told media. Every time we talk to her, her story changes. I’m serious when I say that, every single time. The false statements delayed the investigation and impeded finding the child, Cassidy said.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation initially said the girl was last seen Dec. 26, but later said it’s more likely a babysitter last had eyes on her Dec. 10 or 11.
She wasn’t reported missing until Feb. 18 and an Amber Alert was issued for her Feb. 19. Her mom is being held in Sullivan County jail on $25,000 bond. Meanwhile, the toddler’s grandmother Angela Boswell, 42, was arrested Feb. 21 in North Carolina, along with her boyfriend, William McCloud for allegedly driving a stolen 2007 BMW, according to sources. Authorities asked for help, finding the BMW in connection with the case. The couple claimed they didn’t know how the car been paid for and says Megan given it to them.
They were both booked in Sullivan County jail on fugitive warrants unrelated to Evelyn’s disappearance. Authorities are looking for any information that could lead to the tot’s whereabouts. They’ve already combed through more than 500 tips. Everyone on this case hopes and prays she is alive, and we’re continue to work just like she is alive, Cassidy said.
