A 140-meter (459-foot) bridge has collapsed in northeast Taiwan, at Nanfangao harbor in Yilan County, sending an oil tanker in the water and killing at least two people in fishing boats below.

According to Taiwan’s media, the truck fell onto a number of fishing boats and sparked a fire.
At least four people are dead, two remain missing  and twelve people were injured in the horrific incident.

Six with life-threatening injuries have been taken to hospital.

Military personnel including divers continue to search for victims at the site in Nanfang’ao, a busy fishing village in the Yilan County in northeastern Taiwan.

Just hours before the incident a typhoon had swept across Taiwan and this may have weakened the bridge, amusing  causing a pier to collapse.

Though, Taiwan legislator Wang Ting-yu  said the cause of the collapse was being investigated.
