NEWYORK: Social and Welfare organization in New York One Nation organized its annual Iftar dinner which was attended by community dignitaries, social figures, and people from different walks of life.
The event, held at a local restaurant in Coney Island Avenue began with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by Naat in honor of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
The event was hosted by One Nation’s Secretary Raja Tahir, who welcomed the representatives of the organization and guests.
Addressing a participants, Hazrat Allama Mufti Maqsood Ahmed Qadri, who attand the ceremony as special guest, spoke in detail about the virtues of Ramadan, the importance of piety and social responsibilities.
He said that fasting not only makes a person spiritually strong but also makes him aware of the weaker sections of the society. He stressed the need to promote the spirit of unity, tolerance and service to the people.
The purpose of the event was not only to organize Iftar but also to promote harmony and mutual respect between people belonging to different religions and cultures. One Nation’s vice chairman Umair Yaqoob explained the aims and objectives of the organization.

One Nation founder and former president Mian Nadeem reiterated the commitment that joint efforts will be continued for the welfare of the community.
One Nation’s newly elected president Asif Bhalli said that he has been associated with the organization since its inception and now after assuming this position, he has got the opportunity to shoulder more responsibilities.
The speakers at the event emphasized that the month of Ramadan teaches patience, compassion, sacrifice and mutual unity, and in this spirit, the program was organized so that the members of the community could gather on one platform and promote brotherhood.
A special prayer was offered before Iftar for the safety, peace and prosperity of the country and the nation.
The participants broke fast with the Adhan of Magrhib prayer after which dinner was served.
The participants appreciated the organized event and the sincere hospitality, while the organizers expressed their determination to organize similar social and welfare activities in the future.
