Pakistan’s envoy at UN hosts reception in honor of journalists in New York

NEWYORK: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar, hosted a dinner at his residence in honor of the United Nations Correspondents Association, an organization of journalists reporting on the activities of the United Nations.

The reception dinner was also attended by diplomatic officers, consular staff and journalists from the Pakistani community.

Permanent Representative Asim Iftikhar welcomed the guests on their arrival and also wished them a happy Chinese New Year.

He said that journalists play a very important role in bringing the issues under discussion in the global forum and their proposed solutions to the world.

Pakistani-born British singer Saira Peter, who is fluent in eighteen languages, attended the event as a special guest.

Saira Peter demonstrated her art in the Western classical music genre of opera, which was highly appreciated by the audience.

The event also discussed issues facing journalists, including international politics and economy. Later, Saira Peter also recited a ‘Ghazal’ in Urdu language which was enjoyed by the audience.
