DALLAS: The Pakistan People Party USA observed the 18th death anniversary of former prime minister and PPP chairperson Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto in Dallas.
A large number of prominent figures and community leaders from the city attended the prayer reference, hosted by PPP-USA Vice President Amir Makhani.
Addressing the participants, PPP USA Vice President Amir Makhani said that we have gathered in memory of a person who lives in our hearts, her greatest achievement is that she became the first female Prime Minister of the Muslim world.
Former Prime Minister and Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, former federal minister Qamar-uz-Zaman Kaira and Pakistan Peoples Party USA President Khalid Awan addressed the ceremony via video link.
The speakers highlighted Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s struggle for democracy and people’s rights and remembered her a great people’s leader.
Syed Fayyaz Hassan, Ghazala Habib, Iftikhar Darpan, Amir Ali Makhani, Syed Shahab Shah, Raja Zahid Khanzada and other speakers said that Benazir Bhutto was great leader of Pakistan and her struggle for rule of the law, democracy will be remembered.
The speakers said that whether Benazir Bhutto was in power or in prison, she always remained the same and stood with the people.
The speakers described the housing project for 1.2 million homeless people in Sindh with the support of the United Nations as an exemplary program and said that it is a practical realization of Shaheed Bhutto’s dreams. Later, participants offered prayers for the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
