Pakistan seeks continued global support for Syria’s stability
NEWYORK: Pakistan has called for mobilization of all efforts to strengthen humanitarian situation in Syria.
Speaking at Security Council briefing, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York Asim Iftikhar Ahmed said the persistent threat of terrorism remains a grave concern.
He said as Syria moves into a new phase marked by transition, is essential that the international community remains steadfast in supporting its path towards stability, reform and inclusive state-building.
Pakistani envoy said Israeli incursions and establishment of so-called permanent positions into southern Syrian territory and its violations of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement are highly destabilizing and condemnable.
He said any future security arrangements must be grounded in the United Nations framework and enjoy the consent of all parties concerned.
