NEWYORK: Pakistan has expressed grave concern over the rising tide of Islamophobia , intolerance and right wing extremism targeting minorities particularly Muslims worldwide.
Speaking at Interactive Dialogue with Special Rapporteur on Minority Issues in Third Committee in New York, Pakistan’s counsellor Saima Salim said the weaponization of religion for political ends and systematic marginalization of Muslims in some regions are deeply alarming.
She said discriminatory citizenship laws, attacks on places of worship, calls for genocide and hateful political rhetoric against minorities have been embraced as the official state policy in India.
She further said Pakistan will continue to play its constructive role in promoting understanding, dialogue and peaceful co-existence among faiths and cultures.
