Pakistani American community celebrates 78 th Independence Day in Long Island

NEWYORK: Pakistani American community celebrated Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day in the Valley Stream area of Long Island. Nassau County Police contingent marched past and saluted.

A large number of members of the Pakistani community attended the event. The event formally began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the singing of the national anthems of the United States and Pakistan.

The event was moderated by  Executive Director of the Office of Asian American Affairs Aun Naqvi. He expressed his gratitude to the leadership of Nassau County and appreciated the services of Legislature candidate Shaharyar Ali.

Asian Advisory Council Chairman Chaudhry Akram, Deputy County Attorney Shaharyar Ali and Mujeeb Lodhi, a member of the host committee, played an important role for organizing the independence day celebration.

The speakers said that this celebration would not have been possible without the cooperation of the local administration.

Special guest Mayor Edwin Fare of Valley Stream and John DeGrace of the Republican Committee said that a new journey of success should begin with this celebration, and Shaharyar Ali should be successful in the November 4 election.

When the green crescent flag of Pakistan was raised in the air, the air echoed with slogans of Long Live Pakistan.

The children participating in the ceremony also displayed their art brilliantly.

The heads and leaders of various organizations of the Pakistani American community also participated.

The speakers said that we will provide our people with every possible opportunity to advance in the American society, the community should participate in the political process.

The ceremony witnessed a great practical demonstration of discipline, unity and mutual cooperation.

Later, prominent figures and journalists of the Pakistani community were awarded certificates of appreciation in recognition of their community services.
