NEWYORK: APNA Community Center organized a dialogue with the community to prepare for natural disasters and emergencies in which communities were provided guidance on how to cope with emergency situations.
APNA Community Center organized a dialogue at its office in collaboration with New York City Emergency Management to deal with natural disasters or emergencies as how to prepare for it and how to protect yourself?
APNA Community Center Chief Executive Officer Erum Hanif informed the participants of the dialogue about the disaster management plan and answered many such questions and address the concerns of the community.
The awareness session was attended by community members while other representatives participated online.
APNA CEO Erum Hanif, citing various incidents, said that in cases of heavy rain, urban flooding, snowfall, storms, heat waves or other emergencies, obtaining shelters for food and shelter is the top priority, therefore it is important that community representative organizations keep themselves prepared.
The participants also inquired various questions and pointed out the needs.
Erum Hanif said that APNA is doing very well in various fields, and there is need to increase the capacity and capability to help our community in every possible way during natural disasters and emergencies.
The participants were further informed that the city government also has a relief package for families facing financial difficulties, but due to lack of awareness, they are deprived of benefiting.
During the dialogue, suggestions and recommendations regarding the desired needs faced by the community were collected, which will be presented to the New York City Emergency Management Department.
