NEW YORK: The New York Police Department has promoted more than 150 of its police officers to the next ranks. Four Pakistani and four Bangladeshi-American officers are also included in the promoted officers.
New York Police Department has promoted a total of 209 officers and personnel to the next ranks, including 155 police officers and 54 civilians.
Among the promoted are four Pakistani and four Bangladeshi-American officers. At the beginning of the ceremony at the police headquarters, One Police Plaza, the police band saluted and the American national anthem was played.
According to the NYPD promotion list, officers have been promoted to the ranks of Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief, Inspector, Deputy Inspector, Captain, Lieutenant, Sergeant, Detective and Detective Investigator.
The names of the promoted police officers were also called out. Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, along with other senior officers and officials from various departments, attended the ceremony.
Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch congratulated the officers on their promotions. She said that she expects all officers to play their best role for the betterment of this city and the country.
The promoted police officers said that today is a very special day for them as they have been able to do this with the guidance of their parents and seniors.
Other promoted officers said that they are very happy to be promoted. The police officer Saghir, who was promoted to the next rank, was also given a badge by the Inspector Adeel Rana.
The families of the police officers, Muslim officers and prominent personalities of the Pakistani community also participated in the celebration and took pictures with the promoted officers.
