Muslims organizations hold Meet and Greet to support Democrats candidate’ for Governor Mikie Sherrill
NEW JERSEY: Muslim organizations in New Jersey held Meet and Greet in honor of Democratic candidate for governor of New Jersey, Mikie Sherrill. The event was organized to support Mikie Sherrill’s campaign and strengthen her connection with the community.
The event, held at a local restaurant in New Jersey, was organized by American Muslims for Democracy Advocates, Voices of New Jersey, and the New Jersey Muslim Action Alliance.
The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Introducing Mikie Sherrill, the Democratic Party candidate for governor in New Jersey, the event organizers, Dr. Zubair, said that Mikie Sherrill served in the Navy, learned Arabic, studied at Georgetown, and became a federal prosecutor in New Jersey.
He said that Mikie entered politics, won a Republican district and turned it into a Democratic one, and achieved great success.
He said that today, when our community, education, and health sectors were being neglected, we need a strong, talented leader.
Addressing participants, Governor candidate Mikie Sherrill said that Trump’s nominee for Governor race Jack Ciattarelli is quick to support Trump, but he is silent on cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, or education funding.
She said that Ciatterli even said that he will not use his Attorney General against these cuts. Mikie Sherrill said that this is not leadership, nor is he the right choice for us. That is why she was running to ensure a better future, opportunity, and security for all.
On behalf of the organizers, Hanan Arshad introduced Edison Town Mayor Sam Joshi. On this occasion, the Mayor of Edison Town, New Jersey, Sam Joshi, while announcing his support for Mikie Sherrill, said that which governor will keep all of our communities together and serve everyone? He said that he can proudly say that no candidate is more qualified than Mikie Sherrill, and she is the person who will fulfill this responsibility in the best way.
The event was attended by Chairman of the Democratic Party of Middlesex County Kevin McCann, who praised Mikie Sherrill’s leadership and vision.
Other officials present at the event described Mikie Sherrill as a strong and determined leader who could be the best choice for the state of New Jersey.
Later, the participants asked Mikie Sherrill various questions, to which she gave detailed answers. During the event, when it was time for Maghrib prayer, the program was respectfully stopped, the call to prayer was given, and Maghrib prayer was offered in congregation.
The event was attended by a large number of leading members of the Muslim community, local leaders, and community activists.
