NEWYORK: The New York Police Department has promoted more than 150 of its officers. South Asian and Muslim officers are among those who were promoted in the police department.
The New York Police Department has promoted 159 of its personnel to higher ranks, including 124 officers and 36 civilians. The ceremony, held at Police Headquarters One Police Plaza, began with a police band salute and playing the American national anthem.
The event was attended by Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, along with other senior officers and officials from various departments.
According to the NYPD promotion list, officers have been promoted to the positions of Chief of Training, Chief of Transportation, Chief of Housing, Deputy Chief, Inspector, Deputy Inspector, Captain, Lieutenant, Sergeant, and Detective.
Police officers from South Asian and Muslim communities were also included who were promoted to higher ranks. Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch congratulated the officers on their promotions and said that she expects all officers to play their best role for the betterment of this city and the country.
South Asian police officers, who were promoted, said that the New York Police Department has an excellent reputation all over the world as there were many opportunities for any officer or officer from any community to move forward based on their contributions.
The families of the Muslim officers and prominent figures from the Pakistani community also attended the event.
