NEWYORK: Empowered Muslim Women of New York organized an Iftar dinner at the Heckscher Museum of Art to promote interfaith harmony.
For the first time in the museum’s 125-year history, the call to prayer ,Azaan was given.
The Iftar dinner, organized in collaboration with Empowered Muslim Women of New York and the Heckscher Museum of Art, began with the recitation of the Holy Quran.
A large number of people belonging to different religions participated in the third annual Interfaith Community Ramadan Dinner.
President of Empowered Muslim Women of New York Shazia Jabeen presented the aims and objectives of the establishment of her organization and a summary of its past performance to the participants.
She said that women play a very important role in the development and development of any society, which cannot be ignored.
The museum hall was beautifully decorated. Shazia Jabeen told Voice of South Asia that better relations between Muslims and other religions will help to eliminate hate crimes.
Safaa Aamir from the Muslims community while Eve Kariv from the Jewish community told the participants of the Interfaith Community Ramadan Dinner about the importance of Ramadan and fasting according to their respective religious teachings.
CEO and Executive Director of the Heckscher Museum of Art Heather Arnet,and Heckscher Museum’s Manager of Community Outreach Lisa Sayedi explained the historical background of the museum. They welcomed the participants of the Iftar dinner.
Elected assembly members and officials from different constituencies of New York also participated in the Interfaith Community Ramadan Dinner. The American officials said that in order to achieve lasting peace and eliminate hatred in society, it is necessary to live together in this way.
At time of Iftar, Azaan was given for the first time in the museum’s 125-year history.
The participants did Iftar and later offered the Maghrib prayer in congregation. Later, the volunteers of Empowered Muslim Women of New York were awarded certificates of appreciation for their services and encouragement.
