NEWYORK: New York city Mayor Eric Adams’ former Muslim community liaison officer Mohamed Bahi was released on bail subject to furnishing surety of $250,000 after being arrested on charges of witness tampering and destruction of evidence in connection with a federal investigation of unlawful contributions to a particular 2021 mayoral campaign.

New York city Mayor Eric Adams’ former liaison officer for the Muslim community, Mohamed Bahi, who was charged with tampering witnesses and destruction of evidence, has been released on $250,000 bail by the court.

Journalists outside the court tried to talk to him, but Mohamed Bahi sat in the car without answering any of the questions.

According to the New York Times report, the charges against Mohamed Bahi are related to the investigation in which Mayor Adams was indicted last month.

According to a criminal complaint filed by the FBI, the charges against Mohamed Bahi are related to an ongoing investigation with regard to unlawful donations to Adams’ 2021 mayoral campaign.

Officials say that these allegations could lead to serious consequences for Mayor Adams. Several key officials in Mayor Adams’ administration, including a senior advisor, have also been removed from their positions.
